EUNICE, La. – The backcourt duo of
Jonathan Cisse (Grand Coteau, LA, St. Thomas More HS) and
Isaiah Payne (Ville Platte, LA, Pine Prairie HS) continued their impressive start to LCCAC play, as the pair netted 56 combined points in a 77-62 victory for LSU Eunice over Southern-Shreveport on Monday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals (8-0, 6-0 LCCAC) hold a two game lead over Delgado CC atop the LCCAC standings at the halfway point of the conference calendar.
The Bengals found themselves trailing 33-31 at halftime after a red-hot start from Jaguar guard Quillin Dixon. The sophomore scored 13 points in the first half to take a two-point edge at intermission.
Dixon was held to two points after halftime.
Cisse and Payne came alive in the second half, scoring 33 points together and using a 12-1 run to start the half to take the lead and never look back. LSUE would lead by as many as 19 points in the second half
Payne led all scorers with 28 points while Cisse tallied 27 for the game.
Malik Criner (Gueydan, LA, North Vermilion HS) was the other Bengal to score in double digits with 11 points.
LSU Eunice continues its four-game homestand this week with Delgado CC on Wednesday at 7:30PM.
