LSUE Rallies To Take Down Eastern Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer rallied from an early two goal deficit to score a 3-2 victory against No. 18 Eastern Florida State College on Saturday at Ashton Brosnaham Park.  The Bengals (3-1-2) picked up their first win over a ranked opponent this season.

The Titans raced out to a 2-0 lead after a pair of goals just 16 minutes into the game.  LSUE would chip away thanks to a brace from Elie Bokota (Atlanta, GA, Clarkston HS).  The sophomore put the Bengals on the board in the 39th minute, slamming home a point-blank range shot after a terrific run down the wing from Alexandre Badji (Montreal, Quebec, Canada, College Francais).

Bokota would tie the game up early in the second half thanks to a turnover caused by Mattias Cavallo (Miami, FL, Doral Academy Charter HS).  Bokota took a feed from Chol Chol (Snellville, GA, Tucker HS) in stride, bouncing a low dribbler to the opposite of the net and past the Titans goalkeeper.

It was the first career brace for Bokota.

The comeback would be completed in the 80th with a highlight reel goal from Jose Escobar (Fort Pierce, FL, Fort Pierce Central HS)Heitor de Oliveria Moreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil, Integral Escolas Inteligentes) would play the ball in on a throw-in to a streaking Escobar, who alluded three EFSC defenders to a windmill crossover dribble.  Escobar would finish his move at the top of the box, rifling a low shot that tucked into the near side for the game winner.

Seven of LSUE's 13 shots came in the second half with seven of those offerings going on frame.

Diego Montoya Casillas (Cuernavaca, Mexico, Instituto Oriente de Puebla) rebounded from the early goals to snatch six saves in the victory.  LSUE would play the final eight minutes of the game with a man advantage as the Titans were assessed a red card shortly after the LSUE game winner.

The Bengals will host LSU Alexandria this Friday at the Bengal Soccer Complex.
