EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Men's Basketball got a wire-to-wire victory over Delgado CC 92-78 on Saturday at the HPRE Center to stay unbeaten in LCCAC play. The Bengals (10-6 overall, 2-0 LCCAC) would build as large as a 23-point edge in the dominant performance.
LSU Eunice's offense was hot to start, shooting 35-for-62 (56.5 %) from the floor and 9-for-19 (47.4%) from three-point range. The Bengals roared out to a 14-2 lead in the first half, connecting on six trifectas before intermission.
Jordan Hayes (Grand Prairie, TX, Mansfield Lake Ridge HS) turned in his best performance with the Bengals, finishing an assist shy of a triple-double. The sophomore recorded 17 points, a team-high 13 rebounds to go along with nine assists.
Four other LSUE players recorded double figures, led by a team-high 21 points from
Isaiah Payne (Ville Platte, LA, Pine Prairie HS).
Isaac Weaver (Durham, NC, Mount Zion Academy) and
Alonzo Linton (Lynn, MA, Lynn English HS) helped the Bengals shooting from long range, both connecting on three trifectas. Weaver finished with 15 points in just 10 minutes of action, while Linton tallied 13 points.
Bryce Roberts (Bossier City, LA, Parkway HS) was the other double-digit Bengal, scoring 11.
LSU Eunice hits the road for the first time in LCCAC play on Wednesday as the Bengals venture up north to face Southern-Shreveport.
