EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Men's Basketball continues its hot start to the campaign with an 81-65 victory over Centenary College JV on Sunday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals are off to a 5-0 start to begin the season for the third time in the last five years.
The Bengals found themselves trailing 14-13 to Centenary with 12:44 to go in the first half. LSUE would turn to the outside shooting and defense, sparking a 16-0 run in less than three minutes. The Bengals sunk a trio of three-point baskets in the span. The exclamation points of the stretch came on back-to-back turnovers into dunks by
Seviuhn Turner (Baton Rouge, LA, Madison Prep Academy) and
Reginald Stoner (Melville, LA, North Central HS).
LSUE would force 19 turnovers and turn them into 31 points. The Bengals would take a 43-35 lead into halftime as Stoner led the LSUE effort with 10 of his 14 points coming before intermission.
Bryce Roberts (Bossier City, LA, Parkway HS) continued his strong start to his sophomore campaign, going 4-for-6 from three-point on his way to a team-high 16 points.
Puoch "PJ" Dubuol, Jr. (St. Cloud, MN, Apollo HS) was the other LSUE player to net double digit points, pouring in 10.
The Bengals saw 15 different players score in the game as LSUE's lead would balloon to as large as 23 points in the second half. LSUE would also own a sizeable advantage inside, outrebounding Centenary 52-31.
LSUE will continue its homestand on Saturday, November 19 as the Bengals entertain Copiah-Lincoln with a 2:00PM contest. The game can be seen live on the LSUE Digital Network.
