WICHITA, Kansas – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer saw its 2023 season concluded Tuesday following a 3-0 setback to Arizona Western in the final game of Pool A play at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. The Bengals (13-4-1) made the program's third trip to nationals in the last four seasons.
LSUE would hang tough with the overall number one seed for much of the first half, having the first scoring opportunity of the game.
William Saar (Monrovia, Liberia, Armstrong HS (Minn.)) would break loose on a one-on-one chance but could not beat the Matadors' goalkeeper. It was one of four shots on goal for the Bengals on the day.
Arizona Western would break the tie on a free kick set piece as the ball would deflect off a Bengal defender and in. The Matadors would add two quick goals after intermission, one coming off a long range shot off a clearance attempt from a corner kick.
The Matadors went undefeated in Pool A play and will advance to the semifinals on Thursday, November 16.
