EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Men's Basketball continued its yearly tradition in style, blowing past Delgado 93-65 on Saturday at the HPRE Center to capture the 2022-23 Louisiana Community Colleges Athletic Conference (LCCAC) regular season championship. The Bengals (18-3 overall, 7-0 LCCAC) pushed its conference win streak to 30 games, dating back to the 2019-2020 season.
LSUE quickly jumped up double digits and never looked back, building a 16-point halftime edge, 44-28. The duo of
Bryce Roberts (Bossier City, LA, Parkway HS) and
Kiani Saxon (Auckland, New Zealand, Liston College) exploded in the first half, combining for 28 points alone before intermission.
The sophomores each finished the game with 20 points each, a career high for Saxon while at LSUE.
The Bengals would connect on 12 three-pointers with Saxon leading that charge for four baskets from downtown.
Braylon Richard (Opelousas, LA, Lafayette Christian Academy HS) was the other LSUE player to score double digit points, pouring in 10 off the bench all in the second half.
LSUE closes out the season this week with a road date at Southern-Shreveport on Wednesday, February 22. The Bengals will find out its postseason fate later this week and host a Region 23 Tournament game either next Monday or Wednesday.
