TYLER, Tx. – It was a perfect postseason example of survive and advance as LSU Eunice Baseball used a wild six-run ninth inning to rally and defeat Tyler JC 8-7 on Saturday at Mike Carter Field. The Bengals (46-7) scored all eight of their runs in the final two frames.
LSUE found itself in 7-2 hole entering the final inning after giving up a five-run eighth inning. The Apaches used a bases loaded walk, a two-run double and three-run home run to, at the time, take control of the game.
The Bengals rally would start after LSUE loaded the bases with a pair of singles and a walk.
Cash Riley, III (Dallas, TX, Jesuit HS) started the scoring with a RBI single, followed by one of TJC's two errors to score another and a bases loaded walk to make it a 7-5 deficit.
Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) singled home another run to help LSUE edge even closer before the Bengals capitalized on a wild pitch and another bases loaded walk to help LSUE push out in front, 8-7.
Collier Barham (Baton Rouge, LA, University Lab HS) slammed the door closed, picking up his sixth save of the year. Barham got a strikeout and two ground balls to deliver LSUE a nailbiting win.
Parker Webb (Fayetteville, TN, Lincoln County HS) was credited with the win after going 0.2 innings of relief.
TJC held the lead for the majority of the night, striking for runs in the third and seventh innings.
Will Mabry (St. Joseph, LA, Tensas Academy) knotted the game up in the eighth with a two-out, two-run double.
Ashton Fuselier (Lake Charles, LA, Sam Houston HS) was the lone Bengal with a multi-hit game as LSU Eunice produced six hits against Tyler JC pitching.
