EUNICE, La. – Former LSU Eunice catcher Hunter Feduccia is the latest Bengal to receive the call up to Major League Baseball, joining the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Feduccia was sent up on Saturday while the Dodgers are in Houston for a weekend series.
The product of Barbe HS is the third LSU Eunice student-athlete to reach the highest level of professional baseball, joining Stuart Turner (Reds, 2017) and Ben Braymer (Nationals, 2020).
A member of the Dodgers' 40-man roster, Feduccia has played the last six seasons in the Los Angeles organization after being drafted by the team in the 12th round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Feduccia has spent all or part of the last three years with Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .276 with 23 home runs and 123 RBIs in 194 games played with OKC.
Known for his defensive prowess, Feduccia has a minor league career fielding percentage of .994 while throwing out 111 base runners, good for a 19 percent throw-out rate.
A 2016 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award Winner at LSU Eunice, Feduccia started 93 games with LSU Eunice. His .390 career batting average is tops all-time in LSUE history.
Feduccia spent a year at LSU before being drafted.
There have been 62 LSU Eunice baseball student-athletes drafted or signed by Major League Baseball organizations in school history, all coming since 2003.
