EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball returned home after a six-game road swing, splitting action at home in the Eunice Classic. The Bengals (9-3) wrapped up a busy stretch, playing eight games in ten days.
LSUE enjoyed the comforts of home to begin the Classic, taking down Coastal Bend College 81-46. The Bengals put up a strong fight early against No. 8 McLennan CC, falling to the Highlassies 88-51.
The Bengals continue their homestand after the Thanksgiving break, hosting North American University on Tuesday, December 2.
Nov. 20 vs. Coastal Bend College – W, 81-46
LSU Eunice controlled from start to finish in a runaway victory over Coastal Bend to take an 81-46 decision to kick off the Eunice Classic. The Bengals used a 24-8 opening quarter to seize control and never looked back.
LSUE continued its full use of the roster, with 13 players getting in the scoring ledger.
Reesie Jinks (Grant, LA, Fairview HS) was the lone Bengal to record a double-digit point game, tallying 11 points off the bench. LSUE was led on the glass by
Erianna Ned (Opelousas, LA, J.S. Clark Leadership Academy) and
Paulina Reichenauer (Waiblingen, Germany, Salier Gymnasium), who both pulled in seven rebounds each.
The collective approach also showed up in the assist column with 22 of the team's 31 field goals being assisted, led by Jinks' four helpers.
Nov. 21 vs. McLennan CC – L, 51-88
The Bengals would put up a strong fight early but fall to No. 8 McLennan CC 88-51 to close out the Eunice Classic.
LSU Eunice trailed 21-17 after the first quarter before a strong push by the Highlassies in the middle frames put the game out of reach.
Jamiya Woodard (Tulsa, OK, Union HS) led the Bengals with 12 points,
Saidastiny Stewart (Baton Rouge, LA, Dulles HS (TX)) added 10 points and 8-of-12 free throws,
Kamiera McDonald (Baton Rouge, LA, Scotlandville HS) contributed 7 points, and
Edurne Diaz de la Serna Munoz (Ripollet, Spain, Institut Palau Ausit) chipped in 6 points.
A strong point of the LSUE defense was holding McLennan to just 2-for-14 shooting from three-point range.
