CROWLEY, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball smashed a trio of home runs in the first three innings and never looked back, securing a 16-3 win over Kellogg CC on Friday at Fezzo's Field in Crowley. The Bengals (11-0) took their sixth run-rule victory of the season, and fifth in the last six games.
Will Mabry, IV (St. Joseph, LA, Tensas Academy) started the power surge with a two-run home to right field in the first inning, part of a three-run frame. Kellogg would respond with a home run of its own in the third, clawing back to a 3-2 deficit. The Bengals answered right away as
Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) and
Ashton Fuselier (Lake Charles, LA, Sam Houston HS) lifted a pair of two-run homers to help LSUE push back ahead 7-2.
The early home run derby continues with Kellogg hitting a solo home ruin the fourth, its last run of the game. LSUE responded with another four-run frame, highlighted by
Jordan Luna's (Washington, LA, Opelousas Catholic HS) two run double down the left field line. The Bengals put away the Bruins for good in the sixth, striking for five runs including a two-run double by LeBlanc.
LeBlanc enjoyed a breakout performance, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored on a pair of doubles and the home run. Mabry, Fuselier, Luna and
Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) joined in with multi-hit games as LSUE produced 12 hits in the victory.
Alec Beversdorf (Seabrook, TX, Clear Falls HS) improved to 3-0 on the season with six innings of work, scattering three earned runs off four hits and two walks while striking out six batters.
Carson Harrell (Bentonville, AR, Bentonville HS) threw the final inning, giving up three walks while striking out three.
LSUE continues its four-game weekend with a 1:00PM contest on Saturday against Tyler Junior College.
