TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – It was a tale of two halves for LSU Eunice Baseball with the Bengals' 2025 season coming to a close after an 8-6 setback to Shelton State in the deciding game of the South District Championship Series. LSUE (53-5) would build a commanding 6–1 lead through five innings before a late Shelton State surge was too much to overcome.
The Bengals wasted no time establishing momentum. In the first inning,
Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) scored on a balk, giving LSUE an early 1–0 advantage. The lead extended in the second when
Milan Obradovich (Tuscaloosa, AL, Northridge HS) tripled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Jordan Luna (Washington, LA, Opelousas Catholic HS).
LSUE continued to apply pressure in the fourth and fifth innings.
Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) reached on an error, allowing Obradovich to score. The fifth inning saw a three-run burst:
Will Mabry, IV (St. Joseph, LA, Tensas Academy) doubled, LeBlanc reached on a fielder's choice, and
Ashton Fuselier (Lake Charles, LA, Sam Houston HS) delivered an RBI single. Subsequent groundouts by
Jackson Legg (Shreveport, LA, Calvary Baptist HS) and
Tyler Mitchell (Marrero, LA, John Curtis HS) each brought in a run, pushing the Bengals' lead to 6–1.
Shelton State began their comeback in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs before a pivotal sixth inning. The Buccaneers capitalized on three Bengal errors, two walks, and two wild pitches. Shelton State would add an insurance run in the eighth inning.
After the fifth inning, LSUE would see just two base runners reach safely. Fuselier led the offense in the final game with two hits and an RBI. LeBlanc contributed two runs and two hits, while Obradovich added a triple and two runs.
The sophomore class wraps up an impressive two-year run on the Cajun Prairie, piling up a 109-13 record including the 2024 NJCAA Division II National Championship.
