Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bengals' Streak Continues In Win At Delgado

NEW ORLEANS, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball continued its conference dominance, taking a 96-59 win at Delgado CC on Wednesday.  The Bengals (20-6, 7-0 LCCAC) have secured at least a share of the LCCAC regular season championship, and can earn an outright title on Saturday against Baton Rouge CC.

LSUE has also eclipsed the 20-win plateau for a second straight season, a feat done just once in program history.  The Bengals last enjoyed back-to-back 20-win seasons during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns.  Coach Rob Beckmann's team is also in the midst of a 9-game win streak.

Kamiera McDonald (Baton Rouge, LA, Scotlandville HS) set the table for LSU Eunice in New Orleans, scoring nine points in the first quarter to help the Bengals take a double-digit lead early in the contest.  The sophomore poured in a team-high 21 points, her fourth 20-plus point game of the season.  She also snagged a team-high 8 rebounds.

The Bengals would leave no doubt and deliver the knockout punch right out of the locker rooms after halftime.  LSUE pushed its lead past 20 points with a 15-2 run that lasted more than five minutes.  Paulina Reichenauer (Waiblingen, Germany, Salier Gymnasium) scored seven of her 18 points in that span.

The lead would push past 30 points in the fourth quarter with Reesie Jinks (Grant, LA, Fairview HS) and Erianna Ned (Opelousas, LA, J.S. Clark Leadership Academy) shouldering the load.  Jinks dropped nine of her 12 points in the final frame, while Ned flirted with a double-double during the contest, posting eight points and seven rebounds.

Saidastiny Stewart (Baton Rouge, LA, Dulles HS (TX)) was the fourth Bengal to produce a double-digit point effort, scoring 11 points.

LSUE's calling card of defense was on full display throughout the evening.  The Bengals forced 27 turnovers, turning that into 34 points.  LSU Eunice forced 16 steals, led by Reichenauer and Ned snagging three a piece.  The defense also held Delgado to 17-for-54 (31.5%) from the field and 4-for-21 (19.0%) from three point.

The Bengals will play their final two games of the regular season at home, beginning Saturday against Baton Rouge CC.  LSUE will honor its two sophomores – McDonald and Bella Henry – before the 2:30PM tip from the HPRE Center.
