LSUE Blanks Angelina In Friday Sweep

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Softball dominated from start to finish in a Friday doubleheader sweep of Angelina College at Lady Bengal Field.  The Bengals (24-7) moved their scheduled twinbill at Angelina to home after weather conditions in east Texas made for an unplayable surface on Thursday.

LSU Eunice notched a pair of shutout run-rules over the Roadrunners, by 9-0 and 8-0 margins.  It's the second time this year the Bengals' have produced a pair of clean sheets in a doubleheader and team's eighth shutout of the 2026 season. Payton Prince (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) was a focal point of the LSU offense, totaling eight RBIs in the two games.

The Bengals hit the road on Monday for a doubleheader at No. 22 Mississippi Gulf Coast before returning on Tuesday, March 17 to face off against Division I  No. 5 Trinity Valley in a home twinbill starting at 4:00PM.

Game 1 vs. Angelina College – W, 9-0
LSU Eunice scored in all but one inning and limited Angelina to three hits during the Bengals' 9-0 six inning run-rule of the Roadrunners to start the Friday doubleheader.  LSUE was led by a three-hit game from Mylie Elsensohn (Pearl River, LA, Pearl River HS).

The freshman started off the scoring with a bang, taking a full count pitch over the center field wall for a lead off home run.  It was Elsensohn's first home run of the season.  Makinley Harris (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) produced a sacrifice grounder later in the inning to give the Bengals a 2-0 edge.

Elsensohn was back to work an inning later, doubling home two more runs before being thrown out at third trying to leg out a triple.  Harris followed her up an inning later with a solo home run to push the LSUE advantage to 5-0.

Payton Prince put the Bengals within striking distance of a run-rule in the fifth with a two-run double.  Ciara Orgeron (Stonewall, LA, North Desoto HS) ended the game early in the sixth with a two-run double of her own.

Jadyn Yesso (Houma, LA, Houma Christian HS) joined Elsensohn with a multi-hit game to led the 9-hit attack.

Ava Kordish (Bayou Chicot, LA, Pine Prairie HS) grabbed her third win of the season with a solid four inning outing.  Kordish scattered two hits and a walk while striking out four batters.  Emily Rachal (Bossier City, LA, Airline HS) finished the game with two innings of relief action, working around a hit and a walk with three punchouts.

The LSUE pitching staff put the Roadrunners down in order three times during the game.

Game 2 vs. Angelina College – W, 8-0
Payton Prince carried the offensive load for LSU Eunice in an 8-0 mercy win in five innings to close out the Friday twinbill.  Prince's six RBIs are the most in a single game since Gracie King produced 10 RBIs in a win over Mississippi Gulf Coast during the 2021 season.

The sophomore had the first three run producing at bats of the game for LSUE.  Prince sacrificed in Makinzey Elisar (Prairieville, LA, St. Amant HS) in the first, launched a third inning grand slam, and singled home Mylie Elsensohn an inning later to make it a 6-0 LSUE lead.

Makinley Harris made it 7-0 an inning later with a RBI single to score Prince before Kadyn Schenk (Kentwood, LA, Jewel Sumner HS) walked off the game with a RBI single to plate Ella Mabile (Pierre Part, LA, Assumption HS).

Prince and Schenk each had two hits to lead the team.

Erika Savage (Kingwood, TX, Kingwood Park HS) made quick work of the Roadrunners with a four inning outing to improve to 9-1 on the season.  Savage gave up just one hit with one free pass and three strikeouts. Anna-Cate Miller (West Monroe, LA, Claiborne Christian HS) finished the game with one inning of relief work.
