Alan Orgain enters his second season as the assistant baseball coach at Louisiana State University - Eunice. During his first season, the Bengals captured their second National Championship while Orgain oversaw the pitching staff. That staff consists of a first-team All-American and set set the school record in saves (14). 


Prior to coming to LSUE, Orgain served during two successful seasons as an assistant at San Jacinto College (Houston, Texas). In his time at San Jacinto College Orgain helped guide the Gators to an 82-39 overall record and back-to-back third-place finishes at the NJCAA D-I World Series. Also, the 2007 season marked the second straight year that San Jacinto captured the NJCAA Region 14 Tournament championship.

With Orgain as an assistant, the Gators advanced eight players to NCAA Division I programs including two perennial College World Series programs (University of Rice and University of Texas). Orgain mentored 17 San Jacinto pitchers who were selected or signed professional contracts with Major League Baseball organizations. Both seasons Orgain coached at San Jacinto the Gators received a NJCAA Top 20 ranking, including a No. 3 ranking in 2007.

In 2005, Orgain was a head coach in the New York Collegiate League, coaching the Athletes in Action summer baseball program. Orgain’s first coaching assignment came in 2003, as a head coach in the Burkburnett (TX) Blacksox organization. The past two summers, Orgain has been the head coach of an American Amateur Baseball Congress Connie Mack (17-18 year old) Select Team in Houston, Texas.

Orgain, originally from Hammon, Okla., began his collegiate playing career as a left-handed pitcher at Seward County Community College (Liberal, Kan.) where he earned an Associates degree. At SCCC, Orgain was named Jayhawk West All-Conference as a freshman and earned the Wade Johnstone Award (Athletic and Academic Excellence) as a sophomore. Orgain spent one year at the University of Kansas (Lawrence, Kan.) before transferring to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (Chickasha, Okla.) where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration. Orgain then attended graduate school at Texas Tech University (Lubbock, Texas), earning a Master’s degree in Sport Management.
