Brett Basham

Brett was the starting catcher at Ole Miss from 2007-2009. During that time the Rebels went to 3 Super Regionals, coming up one game short of the College World Series.

In the summer of 2007, Brett played for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League. He led the Braves in hitting with a .309 batting average, which was tops among catchers that year.

In 2008, Brett was named to the inaugural All-SEC defensive team as the catcher. He led the SEC in runners caught stealing and pickoffs. He was chosen in the 15th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Chicago White Sox. He chose to return to school and finish his degree.

In 2009, Basham missed most of the year due to a foot injury and was still drafted by the San Diego Padres. After starting the year with a .440 batting average, a broken wrist caused him to miss the rest of the year. He went on to play one more year in the Padres organization.

Brett received his Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science in 2009. He is originally from Knoxville, TN.
