Patrick Gelwicks

 
Patrick Gelwicks enters his first season as an assistant on the LSU Eunice Baseball staff, making his way to the Cajun Prairie in January 2023.  Gelwicks serves as the Bengals’ hitting coach as well as a focus on the outfield.
 
Gelwicks comes to LSUE after a season at Parkland College in Illinois.  In his one year with the Cobras, the Parkland offense was one of the top units in Region 24, ranking in the Top 40 of most offensive categories nationwide.  Gelwicks would help produce five offensive starters that moved on to play NCAA Division I.
 
He was promoted to Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator after one season with the Cobras before joining the Bengals.
 
Prior to his time at Parkland, Gelwicks served as the lead hitting instructor and head coach for White Sox Elite, a prep baseball program that is part of the Chicago White Sox organization.  He also spent time in various leadership and coaching roles with prep baseball organizations throughout the greater Chicagoland area.
 
Gelwicks played collegiately at Butler University, earnerd All-Horizon League honors during the 2012 season.  Also named the Bulldog’s Team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year that season, the utility player led Butler and was ranked seventh in the Horizon League with a .383 average.  The 2012 season also saw Gelwicks lead the Horizon League in on-base percentage (.456) and walks (41).  He was also among conference leaders in runs batted in (38, 5th), slugging (.482, 9th) and runs (48, 5th).
 
In his four years with Butler, Gelwicks saw action in 127 games with 99 starts.
 
The Downers Grove, Illinois native is a 2013 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Butler University.  Prior to coaching, Gelwicks worked in Private Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch in Indianapolis and Chicago.
