Matthew Stiff enters his third season as the Head Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach for LSU Eunice Women’s Basketball. As he enters the 2026-27 season, Stiff also serves as the program’s Chief of Staff, Co-Offensive Coordinator, and Co-Recruiting Coordinator.
Since joining the Bengals coaching staff, Stiff has played a key role in the program’s continued success both on and off the court. He has been instrumental in recruiting and roster development, helping identify and attract talented student-athletes who have elevated the program’s competitiveness. Working alongside Head Coach Rob Beckmann, Stiff is actively involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, scouting, game preparation, practice planning, player development, day-to-day operations, and student-athlete support.
During his first two seasons at LSU Eunice, Stiff helped guide the Lady Bengals to back-to-back LCCAC Conference Championships and a combined record of 42-18. In 2024-25, LSUE finished 20-11 and captured the conference title before following with an outstanding 22-7 campaign and a second consecutive championship in 2025-26.
Under Stiff’s tenure, the Lady Bengals have established themselves among the premier programs in NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball. LSUE ranked among the nation’s Top 10 in assists during the 2024-25 season before finishing No. 1 nationally in assists during the 2025-26 season. The Lady Bengals also led the nation during Stiff’s first two seasons in steals per game (17.7) and opponents’ turnovers forced per game (27.7), reflecting the program’s fast-paced style and relentless defensive pressure. During conference play, LSUE won eight conference games by an average margin of nearly 30 points per contest.
Widely respected for his energy, work ethic, and recruiting efforts, Stiff has helped establish LSU Eunice as one of the premier junior college women’s basketball programs in the Gulf South Region.
Prior to entering collegiate coaching, Stiff was a standout player at Northwest High School in Justin, Texas. He was a member of the Texans team that advanced to the 2018 UIL Class 5A State Championship Game, earning a state runner-up finish. Following high school, he continued competing at a high level on the AAU circuit with several highly competitive programs.
Stiff earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Kinesiology from Midwestern State University in 2023.
