Renotta Edwards is in her second season with LSU Eunice as an assistant coach, but Edwards has been around the Lady Bengal court for quite some time.
Edwards, a native of Ville Platte, Louisiana, enrolled in LSU Eunice after graduating from Ville Platte High School in 2005. She received numerous All-district and All-state honors in her four years of playing varsity high school basketball.
Edwards played two years with the Lady Bengals and helped lead the 2006-2007 squad to the NJCAA National Championships where the team finished fourth in the nation.
She holds numerous Lady Bengals scoring records and is the all-time leading scorer in school history with 1,195 points.
Edwards scored a career high and LSU Eunice record 43 points twice in her career, once against Panola Junior College. She scored 34 points in the District-clinching game against Johnson County Community College.
After leaving LSU Eunice, Edwards continued to play basketball for the Northwestern State University Lady Demons in Natchitoches, La.
In two seasons with Northwestern, she scored 403 points in 60 games. Edwards finished second on 2008-2009 team in free throw percentage hitting over 80 percent.
In 2009, she set a career high with 18 points scored against McNeese twice in a two week period.
In 2007-2008, she was third for the Lady Demons with assist and second in 3-point shooting with 34 3-point baskets.
