Former Lady Bengal basketball player Shaina Howard joins the LSU Eunice women’s basketball team as an assistant coach for the 2014-2015 season.

Her duties as an assistant coach will range from administrative work to recruiting in addition to coaching.

Howard played at LSU Eunice during the 2009-2010 season before moving on to NCAA Division III school Louisiana College, where she played her final three collegiate seasons as a member of the Wildcats.

In her one season with the Lady Bengals, she passed out 31 assists and grabbed 20 steals while playing in 27 total games for a LSU Eunice team that finished with a 18-11 record and a trip to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.

At Louisiana College, Howard was part of three consecutive Wildcat teams that made it to the NCAA Postseason, including grabbing their first-ever NCAA postseason win in the 2010-2011 season. Louisiana College was also ranked in the Top 25 during each of Howard’s three seasons, and were also the American Southwest Conference’s East Division champions each of the three seasons, sending the Wildcats to the American Southwest Conference Tournament every year during that time.
