Zak Elagamy enters his second season as a volunteer assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s teams. Elagamy, a Lafayette native, focuses primarily on goalkeepers for both squads.
Elagamy made an instant impact in his first season with LSUE, helping men’s goalkeeper Vinicius Cadengue achieve third-team NJCAA All-American status during the 2020-21 season. The Bengals recorded five clean sheets on the season while Cadengue tallied 51 saves, ranking 16th nationally on the way to the team's first NJCAA National Tournament appearance.
The women’s side ranked 18th in the country with five shutouts including a 1.55 goals against average.
Elagamy was a prolific goalkeeper for Acadiana HS, being named the 2017 All-Acadiana MVP by The Daily Advertiser. The Rams would make at least the Division I semifinals in all four years with Elagamy in net, including a Championship Game appearance in 2016.
He would go on to play two seasons at Marshall University. Elagamy currently spends time with the Cajun Rush of the Gulf Coast Premier League, earning Week 3 Team of the Week honors during the 2021 season.
