Travis Webb enters his eighth year at LSU Eunice, serving as the lead communicator on campus. He is currently the Director of Strategic Communications on campus, encompassing all forms of communication for both the academic and athletic aspects at LSUE.
Webb joined LSU Eunice in August 2017, primarily focusing on the athletic programs and campus-wide multimedia. He was promoted to interim director of Public Affairs in March 2020 before taking on the role of chief communications officer in September of 2022.
With LSU Eunice, Webb has helped expand Bengal Athletics’ social media reach to more than 40,000 followers across various social media platforms. Through a partnership with Opelousas General Health, Webb helped create the LSUE Digital Network, becoming the first junior college with its own dedicated app to sports video streaming.
On the academic end, Webb is responsible for all marketing, multimedia, and public affairs materials.
Prior to joining LSU Eunice, Webb was at KATC-TV in Lafayette, Louisiana in the sports department. He joined KATC Sports as a Sports Reporter and Weekend Sports Anchor in July 2008 before being promoted to Sports Director in August 2011.
While at KATC-TV, Webb created and produced “Ragin’ Cajuns All-Access,” the first of its kind in the Lafayette market weekly television program dedicated to UL-Lafayette athletics. In addition to overseeing the official television program of Ragin’ Cajun athletics, Webb was the sideline reporter for the football team on the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Radio Network for two years.
Webb was the recipient of multiple Associated Press awards for Best Sportscast and Best Sports Story and was named the 2011 Media of the Year for the Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Awareness Committee for Citizens with Disabilities.
In addition to his television duties, he has been involved in several different forms of local media over the years, ranging from newspaper and magazine, to local sports talk radio.
A native of Crowley, Webb graduated from Syracuse University in May 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Management Studies. While at Syracuse, Webb was involved with WAER-FM, the student-run sports department covering SU’s football, basketball and lacrosse teams.
