A second-straight poor offensive performance led to the LSU Eunice women’s basketball team’s 79-69 defeat to North Arkansas in the Don Wilson Classic Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Bengals dropped both games of the back-to-back contests after shooting just 31 percent (23-for-72) from the field against North Arkansas, who tallied a 42 percent shooting percentage in the game.

LSU Eunice finished with three players in double figures, with Taylor Hurd leading the way with a 24-point afternoon. Meghan Cross finished with 20 points and Lida Politopoulou added 17 for the Lady Bengals.

Janna Case led North Arkansas with 25 points, while Brooke Poole added 18 points.

A team that relies on its’ long-range shooting, the Lady Bengals shot just 38 percent (10-for-26) from three-point range.

“We didn’t defend today and didn’t shoot the ball well, same as last night,” head coach Michael Bari said.

“I think this was a long trip for our freshmen and we didn’t make any adjustments. Hopefully this is a learning experience for us because today wasn’t a good day for us at all,” Bari added.

The Lady Bengals now have three days to prepare San Jacinto College at home on Tuesday night.

“We’ve got to get back into our groove. We aren’t in rhythm offensively, and it’s really not what the other team’s doing but it’s us,” Bari said.

Tipoff against San Jacinto is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and is available on Bengal All-Access.
