EUNICE, La. – Eighth-ranked LSU Eunice used a similar formula as Friday night's season opening win over North Lake College. The Bengals scored an 18-2 run-rule victory thanks to timely hits and capitalizing on Blazer mistakes.
The Bengals had multi-run innings in each of their six at-bats on the evening. LSUE, once again, took advantage of North Lake miscues, as the Blazers had four errors while walking nine batters.
Mason Templet started things off for the Bengals with a two-RBI single to right field to score Jacob Richard and Brent Hebert who both reached base on walks. LSUE struck for four more an inning later highlighted by Hebert's liner to right that scored two more.
LSUE followed that up with three more runs in the third capped off by Jacob Richard's two-RBI double to centerfield. The Bengals plated a pair in the fourth and struck for five in the fifth off just two hits.
Justin Barton led off a trio of pitchers for the Bengals that allowed a combined four hits while striking out four and walking four. Andrew Sheridan and Andrew Lowe provided four innings of relief for Barton.
Cameron Horton and Bren Faulk capped off the scoring for the Bengals with a sacrifice fly and double, respectively.
LSU Eunice will look for the season opening series sweep tomorrow against the Blazers. Game three is set for a 1:00PM start from Bengals Stadium. Austin Bradford is the scheduled starting pitcher for LSUE. Fans can also follow the baseball team's Twitter (@LSUEBengalsBSB), Facebook (@LSUEuniceBaseball) and Instagram (@LSUEBengals) accounts.
