Doucet's Walk-Off Highlights Twinbill Sweep Of Southeastern

EUNICE, La. – Darian Doucet's walk-off home run helped lift LSU Eunice to the first of two wins over Southeastern CC (Iowa), the first of two doubleheaders against the Blackhawks.  The sophomore's long ball was her first of the season.

Doucet helped secure an eight-inning 5-4 win in Game One, followed by a 6-2 decision.  Mima Doucet helped pace the Bengals offense on the afternoon with four hits and two RBIs.

The Bengals (26-13) and Blackhawks will play another doubleheader on Tuesday starting at 1:00PM.  Bengal All-Access will have a live video feed of both games.

GAME ONE

Darian Doucet's first career home run with LSU Eunice couldn't have come as a better time as the sophomore's long ball helped secure a 5-4 walk-off win in eight innings.

LSU Eunice overcame five errors on the field as Southeastern fought back to tie the contest in the fifth and seventh innings.

The Blackhawks took an early 1-0 edge on a sacrifice fly by Ashley Rosado.  The Bengals bounced back with three runs an inning later, including Madison Monson's 11th home run of the season.  The NJCAA Division II home run and RBI leader blasted a two run shot and was followed by a run scoring single by Lakyn Wales.

Disaster struck for the Bengals in the fifth as Southeastern plated a pair of two-out runs off of two hits and two errors, tying the game 3-3.

The back and forth continued as Mima Doucet lifted a sacrifice fly to score Kelci Bodin, helping LSUE regain the 4-3 lead.

Two out troubles continued in the seventh as Southeastern strung together three consecutive hits to plate the game tying run.  LSUE couldn't convert a two-out single to send the game into extra innings.

Jeanne Trahan (6-4) worked a perfect eighth inning, pitching four innings in relief of starter Heather Zumo.  Trahan gave up three runs, one earned, on five hits while striking out a pair.  Zumo pitched four innings, scattering one earned run off four hits and striking out three.  That improved her total to 103 strikeouts on the season, currently tops in NJCAA Division II.

The drama built for Darian Doucet after Haley Godeaux and Angela Donaldson both grounded out in the infield.  That set the stage for Doucet's walk-off home run.

GAME TWO
LSU Eunice gave up an early lead but finished strong as Morghan LaTour settled down to dominate in a 6-2 Game Two victory.

LaTour (3-1) pitched her first complete game of the season, giving up two earned runs off eight hits and not issuing a walk.  The Rosepine product also struck out three batters.  After giving up four hits in the first two innings, LaTour sat down Southeastern in order three of the final five innings of the game.

The Blackhawks struck first after Izzy Collins drove home a pair of runners with a one-out single to right field.

LSUE responded an inning later thanks to Madison Monson.  The freshman poked a single to right field, scoring Hannah Carpenter and Mima Doucet.  Darian Doucet would give the Bengals a 3-2 edge later in the inning with a sacrifice fly.

Carpenter and Mima Doucet would push the LSUE lead to 5-2 in the fourth with a pair of run scoring hits, Doucet knocking her nation-leading 17th double of the season.

McKenzie King capped off the scoring with a fifth inning single to plate Darian Doucet.
