Bengals Use Six-Run First To Cruise Past UT-Tyler

TYLER, Tx. – Mason Templet and Koi Westbrook pounded a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning to help top-ranked LSU Eunice take down UT-Tyler JV, 12-3.  The Bengals (39-4) exploded for six runs in the first inning, part of a 13-hit attack.

The Bengals pounded five hits in the first inning starting with a one-out Chance Clark double.  Brent Hebert scored Clark on a single before Templet's home run.  Following an Andrew Sheridan walk, Cameron Horton doubled him home then scored on Westbrook's blast.

It was the third straight game that the Bengals have hit multiple home runs.

LSUE added two more runs when Andrew Sheridan reached on a bases loaded Patriot erro that helped two runs score, making it 8-0 Bengals.

Gage Trahan (4-0) shut down the Patriots in his second start of the season.  The freshman gave up one unearned run off two hits and two walks in 4.1 innings.  Trahan struck out four batters and sat down the UT-Tyler lineup in order twice.

For the second straight game, the Bengals unloaded the bullpen throwing five arms in relief, giving up two runs over the final 4.2 innings.

Evan Keller drove in three of the Bengals' final four runs of the game.  The freshman connected on a two run single in the seventh, followed by an RBI off an error in the ninth.  Andrew Sheridan single home the other run in the eighth.
