ALEXANDRIA, La. – LSU Eunice used a five-run sixth inning to help separate from LSU Alexandria and deliver an 11-1 run-rule win on Thursday at Generals Field.  The victory helped the Bengals (29-4) extend their now season's best win streak to 11 games.
 
The first four LSUE batters in the sixth inning reached base with Jack Merrifield starting the scoring with a RBI triple to plate Evan Keller.  Tristan Welch's run scoring single pushed the Bengals' lead to 7-0 before Slate Fuller, Bren Faulk and Javier Vaz added RBIs.  LSUE collected six hits in the inning to reach a double digit advantage.
 
After LSUA responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning, Reed Babin secured the mercy rule victory with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
 
Evan Keller paced the 11-hit attack with a 3-for-5 outing, driving in a run and scoring three times.  Keller plated the first run of the game on a wild pitch in the first and would later score on a fourth inning fielder's choice from Tristan Welch.  The sophomore drove in Javier Vaz on a fourth inning single to make it a 4-0 LSUE lead.
 
Jack Merrifield drove in a game-high three RBIs including two in the second off a fielding error in the second inning.
 
Andrew Sheridan tossed six innings to pick up the win, scattering one earned run off five hits and two walks.  Sheridan (W, 7-1) struck out seven batters to increase his season total to 53, currently ranked third in NJCAA Division II.
 
Kade Gonsoulin, Jacob Spell and Jerry Couch all pitched in relief.
 
LSUE will take the weekend off before heading off to face Wharton County JC on Monday, April 1 at 3:00PM.  The game continues a six-game road swing for the Bengals.
