MARSHALL, Texas - LSU Eunice displayed its offense and defense during a Wednesday doubleheader sweep against East Texas Baptist University JV at Woods Field. The Bengals (43-5) closed out a perfect six-game road swing.
LSUE pushed out to a 9-run lead in the opener before taking a 14-6 decision, followed by an 8-0 shutout to close out the twinbill.
The Bengals will return home for the final time in the 2019 campaign. LSUE hosts Tyler JC for a three-game set at Bengal Stadium starting Friday at 6:00PM. A doubleheader will follow on Saturday beginning at 1:00PM.

Game 1 vs. East Texas Baptist University JV – W, 14-6
LSUE slammed a pair of early home runs to help catapult the Bengals to a 14-6 victory over ETBU. The trio of Jarrett McDonald, Jack Merrifield and Nick Bellina drove in 11 of the team's runs.
Merrifield and Bellina helped LSUE push out with five first-inning runs highlighted by Bellina's Grand Slam, his sixth of the season and third straight game with a long ball.
LSUE would follow up an inning later with four more runs including a three-run home run from Jack Merrifield. The Tigers would respond with a Grand Slam of their own in the third, but it was as close as East Texas Baptist could get.
Jarrett McDonald singled home Evan Keller in the fourth inning, part of his four-hit, four RBI afternoon. The freshman also scored three times. The Bengals would close out the victory with four more runs in the sixth, capped off by Bren Faulk's two-run triple.
Jake Hammond picked up his first win after throwing 3.2 innings of one-hit relief. The freshman struck out a season's best seven batters. Tyler Booth returned to action, receiving a no decision in his start.
Game 2 vs. East Texas Baptist University JV – W, 8-0
Four Bengal pitchers combined to deal out just three hits as LSU Eunice recorded an 8-0 victory to close out the doubleheader at East Texas Baptist. It was the Bengals' 11th shutout of the season, one shy of a program record set by the 2015 team.
LSUE's 'Johnny Wholestaff' approached began with two innings from Austin Andrishok. The freshman picked up the win (W, 1-0) after scattering two hits and one walk with a strikeout. Brennan Maddox also tossed two no-hit frames, striking out three batters. Jack Merrifield and Slate Fuller would go an inning each.
Brooks Rushworth started the offense with a two-run double in the first inning. After Javier Vaz drove in a run an inning later, the Bengals would push four runs across in the fourth inning. Jerry Couch's RBI double was followed by an error, sacrifice fly and a Jarrett McDonald run scoring single.
Evan Keller capped off the scoring with a double to plate Vaz.
Hunter Tabb was the lone Bengal to produce a multi-hit game in LSUE's nine-hit attack.
