No. 1 LSUE Keeps Rolling In Road Rout of Centenary JV

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Eunice used a six-run inning and 19-hit outburst to cruise past Centenary JV, 14-1, on Monday at Shehee Stadium in Shreveport.  It was the Bengals' (13-0) first road game of the season.

After trading runs in the first inning, the Bengals exploded for 13 unanswered runs.  LSUE's offense was paced by a 4-for-4 game from Christian Gonzales (Breaux Bridge, LA, Breaux Bridge HS).  The freshman drove in two runs and scored three times.

The Bengals took advantage of a bases loaded situation for a pair of runs in the second including Reed Babin's (St. Amant, LA, St. Amant HS) RBI single.  Gonzalez would push the LSUE lead to 4-1 an inning later with a RBI bunt single.

Following one of three Scott Jones (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) RBIs in the third inning, LSUE would score six runs in the sixth inning off six hits and three errors.  Jones would provide one of the big hits in the frame with a two-run single to right field.

Jones would finish with a two hit, three-RBI and two-run game including a triple.

LSUE would add three more runs in the final three innings including RBI singles from Gonzales and Charles Gordon (Alvin, TX, Alvin HS).

Austin Andrishok (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS) picked up the win, as the sophomore was one of six pitchers to throw for LSUE.  Andrishok tossed two scoreless frame including two strikeouts.  The Bengal arms combined to toss 11 strikeouts including a game-high three from starting pitcher Dalton Burrell (Bossier City, LA, Airline HS).

LSUE returns home this weekend for a critical four-game series against nationally ranked Kellogg CC.  The Bengals and the 11th ranked Bruins kick off their series Friday at 6:00PM from Bengal Stadium.  All games will be live streamed on Bengal All-Access.
