BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU Eunice collected its 30th consecutive win in Louisiana Community Colleges Athletic Conference (LCCAC) play as the Bengals used a late push in a 73-57 decision over Baton Rouge CC on Wednesday at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. LSUE (7-2, 2-0 LCCAC) also pushed its win streak over the Bears to 10 games, now owning a double-digit win streak on all LCCAC opponents.
The Bengals got everything it could handle from the Bears early, leading by only four points after the first quarter. LSUE could not open up a consistent double-digit lead until
Alona Washington (Gonzales, LA, Ascension Christian HS) was able to pick up steam in the second half.
Washington scored 17 of her game-high 22 points in the second half include four three-point baskets.
The Bengals also received a balanced effort from the rest of the squad with five other players netting at least eight points.
Jackie Sims (Midland, LA, Midland HS) (8 points) and
Kendall Miller (Iota, LA, Iota HS) (10 points) turned in career nights while
Trastasia Hester (Houma, LA, Ellender HS) (8 points),
Brooklyn Fontenot (Kinder, LA, Kinder HS) (9 points) and
Chelsey White (Port Allen, LA, Port Allen HS) (8 points) continued their consistent play.
LSUE was able to connect on 12 three-pointers on the night.
The LCCAC road week continues with a trip to New Orleans on Saturday. LSUE will meet up again with Delgado in the Crescent City at 2:00PM.
