Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – LSU Eunice used tough defense and early offensive firepower to take down Delgado CC, 55-46, on Saturday at the Michael Williamson Center.
The Bengals (7-2, 3-0 LCCAC) built as large as a 23-point lead in the first half as
Alona Washington (Gonzales, LA, Ascension Christian HS) scored 10 of her 13 points before intermission. Washington stuffed the stat sheer with a team-high 9 rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The defense was particularly stingy in the first half against the Dolphins. LSUE held Delgado to just 5-for-29 shooting (17.4%) from the field before intermission. The Bengals also forced 28 turnovers on the afternoon, turning that into 17 points.
Brooklyn Fontenot (Kinder, LA, Kinder HS) led the Bengals in scoring, tallying 14 points and 7 rebounds for the game.
The Bengals high scoring offense was stymied in the second half, netting just 20 points after intermission. The 55 points are the least amount of points in a LCCAC game during LSUE's historic 31-game conference win streak since a 54-50 win in New Orleans over Delgado on February 7, 2018.
LSUE's road trip continues on Wednesday as the Bengals venture up north to face Southern-Shreveport. The Wednesday, March 3 doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 5:30PM.
