EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice gave up a six-run inning and could never recover as Baton Rouge CC escaped with a 12-2 win over LSUE in seven innings on Friday at Bengal Stadium. It was the first time since 2007 (April 14 vs. Delgado) that LSUE (17-3) loss by double digits at home.
After BRCC plated the opening run in the first inning, the Bengals responded with two runs off back-to-back RBIs by
Hunter Tabb (Scott, LA, Acadiana HS) and
Brady Hebert (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS). Four of the team's eight hits came in the inning as despite the two runs, LSUE left the bases loaded.
That gave way to a six run third inning for the Bears, coming off four hits, a walk and three errors. A sacrifice ground out, score on a wild pitch and fifth inning three-run home run would push BRCC's lead to double digits.
Jerry Couch (Bossier City, LA, Airline HS) (5-1) was handed his first loss of the season with
Austin Andrishok (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS),
Bryson Connell (Bossier City, LA, Airline HS) and
Brendan Moody (Iowa, LA, Iowa HS) seeing action in relief.
LSUE will try to even up the two-game weekend set on the road Saturday as the Bengals travel to Brusly HS to play Baton Rouge. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00PM.
