NEW ORLEANS, La. – LSU Eunice women's basketball saw its 37-game LCCAC win streak come to an end as the Bengals fell to Delgado 76-64 on Saturday at the Michael Williamson Center.  The Bengals' (14-3, 9-1 LCCAC) streak lasted through four LCCAC championship seasons, encompassing a total of 1,485 days.

The streak both started and ended against the Dolphins.

LSUE and Delgado went back and forth for the majority of the afternoon, with the game featuring seven lead changes and three ties.  The Bengals last held the lead with 41 seconds remaining in the third quarter off a Trinity Harold lay-up to make it 49-48.  The Dolphins would push ahead for good with a quick 7-0 run into the first minute of the fourth quarter to build a five-point pad.

Delgado would get red hot in the final frame, shooting 10-14 from the field and 3-4 from the three-point line to grow as large as a 14-point advantage.  The Bengals, meanwhile, suffered through a tough night from the three-point line going 5-for-23 (21.7%).

LSU Eunice was led by valiant efforts from
Alona Washington (Gonzales, LA, Ascension Christian HS) and
Tahjea Smith (Texas City, TX, Texas City HS) to keep its streak intact.  Washington poured in 20 points while Smith put up a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

LSUE aims to get another streak going this Wednesday as the Bengals travel to Southern-Shreveport.
