CHALMETTE, La. – The LSU Eunice baseball offense continued its torrid pace on Thursday with a pair of run-rule wins at Nunez CC on Thursday. LSUE blew by the Pelicans in the opener 18-0, followed by a late offensive surge to secure a 14-1 win.
During the team's current nine game win streak, the Bengals (26-3) are averaging nearly 15 runs per game.
After not accomplishing the feat in nearly a decade, LSUE had a player hit three home runs in a game for the second time in five days.
Brady Hebert (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS) belted a trio of long balls in the opening game, part of an eight home run day for the Bengals.
These two teams will meet again on Saturday at Bengal Stadium for a doubleheader. The action from the Cajun Prairie is scheduled to begin at 2:00PM.
Game 1 vs. Nunez CC – W, 18-0
Brady Hebert belted three home runs to help guide LSU Eunice to a commanding 18-0 victory in a five inning run-rule win. Hebert joined reigning NJCAA Player of the Week Jarrett McDonald as Bengals who collected three home runs in a single game this season.
Hebert started the offensive surge early with a lead-off home run to begin the game. The sophomore would push the lead to 4-0 an inning later with a two-run homer in the second, part of a nine-run frame. He would cap off of the scoring with another solo home run in the fifth.

They were joined by
Jack Merrifield (Prairieville, LA, Dutchtown HS),

Scott Jones (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) to have multi-hit games in LSUE's 14-hit output.
Jerry Couch (Bossier City, LA, Airline HS) (7-1) picked up the complete game shutout, going all five innings while scattering four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Game 2 vs. Nunez CC – W, 14-1
LSU Eunice would use a nine-run fifth inning to separate itself from the Pelicans in a 14-1 victory to close out the twin bill.
Nunez would be first on the board by scoring on a sacrifice ground out, holding the 1-0 advantage until the third inning. Jack Merrifield would give the Bengals the lead for good with a two-run home run. The Bengals would scratch across three more in the fourth, jump started by Jarrett McDonald's solo home run.
LSUE would then secure the run-rule with a nine-run fifth inning, using six hits, four walks and two errors. Hunter Tabb highlighted the inning with a three-run blast to cap off the scoring.
McDonald and Scott Jones enjoyed perfect 3-for-3 games with Merrifield and Brady Hebert also posting multi-hit games. Jones also added three stolen bases.
Jackson Rodriguez (Kingwood, TX) (4-0) grabbed the win after throwing 4.2 innings, giving up the one unearned run off three hits and three walks. Rodriguez struck out seven batters.
