EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice turned a one possession game into a blowout quickly as the Bengals thrashed Southern-Shreveport, 94-51, at the HPRE Center on Monday. The Bengals (11-2, 6-0 LCCAC) have reached the halfway point of conference calendar, owning a three game lead on Delgado.
The Bengals struggled out of the gate, leading the Jaguars 18-15 after one quarter. LSUE would wake up in a hurry, outscoring Southern-Shreveport 25-5 in the frame to push out to a 23-point halftime lead, 43-20.
Brooklyn Fontenot (Kinder, LA, Kinder HS)led the first half charge with 10 of her 15 points coming before intermission.
The offense continued to thrive out of the locker rooms, netting 38 points in the third quarter alone. LSUE would connect on six three-point baskets in the frame, paced by
Alona Washington's (Gonzales, LA, Ascension Christian HS) three field goals from downtown. Washington scored a team-high 16 points, 11 coming in that runaway quarter.
LSUE saw six players score double-figures and 10 players record at least a point.
Tahjea Smith (Texas City, TX, Texas City HS) (10 points),
Trinity Harold (Denham Springs, LA, Walker HS) (11 points),
Tanisha Hester (Houma, LA, Ellender HS) (10 points) and
Chelsey White (Port Allen, LA, Port Allen HS) (13 points) all hit the double-digit plateau.
The Bengals remain at home for a pair of games this week. LSUE will host Delgado CC at 5:30PM on Wednesday, followed by a Saturday showdown with Baton Rouge CC at 2:00PM.
