EUNICE, LA. – LSU Eunice Baseball's experience was on full display Friday as the Bengals rolled up an impressive 15-4 season opening win in seven innings over North Lake College at Bengal Stadium. LSUE (1-0) saw nine third-year sophomores start as the Bengals improved to 19-1 in season openers under long time head coach Jeff Willis.
A pair of seven run frames spearheaded the victory including an electric second inning. LSUE would capitalize on a hit and two walks before

Cole Romero (Scott, LA, Acadiana HS) launched a three-run bomb to make it 7-0 Bengals.
North Lake made it interesting in the third, scoring four runs on three hits and two walks. LSUE answered right back with a
Carter Quinn (Lake Charles, LA, Barbe HS) RBI double.
The LSUE bullpen would shut off the Blazer offense, as
Drew Lasseigne (Greenwell Springs, LA, Central HS) and
Jase McDonald (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) combined for 4.1 innings of no-hit relief. Lasseigne struck out six batters in picking up the win while McDonald fanned two of the three batters he faced. Opening day starter

Beau Kirsch (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) and LeJeune would all drive in runs before Romero added another three-run home run to his night.
The Acadiana High product finished 2-for-4 with six RBIs and two runs scored to pace the LSUE 11-hit attack. Fellow Wreckin' Ram Kirsch and LeJeune were the other Bengals to grab multi-hit games. The trio also each stole a base.
