Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Goals Push No. 6 LSUE Past No. 8 Daytona State

PANAMA CITY, FL – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer took advantage of second half red cards against Daytona State College as the Bengals overcame a late deficit in a 3-1 victory on Friday at Publix Sports Park.  The Bengals (7-0) capped off an impressive six-game road swing that lasted nearly a month by capturing their second straight NJCAA Top 10 victory.

After six games and more than 600 minutes of gameplay this season, LSUE found itself not only trailing for the first time in 2023 but gave up its first goal of the season.  Daytona State, already down a man after an assessed red card in the first half, connected on a 51st minute goal that gave the Falcons a 1-0 edge.  However, it was short lived as Daytona State would accumulate two more reds giving LSUE an 11 on 8 advantage on the field.

The Bengals pounced on the opportunity.  LSUE would score three goals in the span of ten minutes as Benjamin Alimasi (Houston, TX, Paetow HS), Santiago Waites (Birmingham, AL, Oak Mountain HS) and Ryan Jeanfreau (New Orleans, LA, Holy Cross HS) would trigger the offensive flurry.  John Simmons (Atlanta, GA, Northview HS) had a hand in two of the goals with a pair of assists while Alimasi helped in the second goal.

The cards would continue to pile up as LSUE would see two players sent off as the contest saw five players leave due to red cards or card accumulation.

LSUE would outshoot Daytona State 17-10 including 12 in the second half alone.  Zachary Clary (Pensacola, FL, Tate HS) scooped up 3 saves to record the win in net for LSUE.

The Bengals return home for a pair of games on the Cajun Prairie, beginning Sunday as East Mississippi CC comes to town.
