No. 6 LSUE Nets Record 11 Goals In Win Over East Mississippi

EUNICE, LA – The LSU Eunice Men's Soccer team scored early and often as the Bengals smashed East Mississippi 11-0 on Sunday at the Bengals Soccer Complex.  The sixth-ranked Bengals (8-0) set a new single-game program record with 11 goals in the afternoon.

The previous record was set in LSUE's first season, scoring 10 goals in a win over Jacksonville College in 2018.

Just two days removed from a win over No. 8 Daytona State, LSU Eunice was able to get a record setting performance with a large portion of the goal scoring coming from reserves.  The first unit spotted LSU Eunice a 3-0 lead in the first 30 minutes, led by Kei Nagakura's (Kanagawa, Japan, Club Med Academies) brace with back-to-back goals just separated by two minutes.  Santiago Waites (Birmingham, AL, Oak Mountain HS) opened up the scoring in the 15th minute with a left footed laser inside the 18-yard box off a through ball from Axel Daniel Quintero Agurcia (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS).

Jose Luis Bustamante (Bogota, Colombia, Colegio Andino), John Simmons (Atlanta, GA, Northview HS), Haythem Abraham (Baton Rouge, LA, Baton Rouge Magnet HS) and Aarush Kamath (Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Reliance Foundation School) would add goals in the first half to give LSUE a commanding 7-0 lead at intermission.

Abraham would come alive in the late stages of the game as the Bengals would push four more goals across in the first eight minutes of the game.  Abraham netted a pair, producing his first and LSUE's first hat trick of the season.  Simmons netted an 84th minute goal to net brace, while Ethan Shanahan (Baton Rouge, LA, Dutchtown HS) closed the scoring with a beautiful long-range shot, his first as a Bengal.

Bronson Paus (Arlington, TX, James Martin HS) collected his first career complete game shutout despite not facing a single shot on goal during the game.  The Bengals have a NJCAA-best seven clean sheets this season.

LSU Eunice is back at home on Friday with a 2:00PM contest against No. 14 Western Texas College.
