Bengal Arms Guide Friday Shutout

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice's Blake Lobell (Holden, LA, Springfield HS) struck out a career-best 13 batters to help the Bengals to a 3-0 win over North Iowa Area CC on Friday at Bengal Stadium.  The shutout was LSU Eunice's (25-1) second of the week and fifth of the season.

Lobell started in impressive fashion, striking out the side in order to start the game.  The sophomore co-captain did not allow a single until the sixth inning, scattering three walks in his six innings of work.  Lobell picked up his seventh win of the season after sitting down the Trojans in order three times, twice with three straight strikeouts.

LSUE's pitching staff continued to impress after Lobell was pulled.  Parker Webb (Fayetteville, TN, Lincoln County HS) continued his midseason surge, striking out four batters in two innings of work.  Webb would give up just one hit and a walk.  Collier Barham (Baton Rouge, LA, University Lab HS) collected his first collegiate save, working a perfect final frame.

The Bengal arms would collect 18 strikeouts on the afternoon, the most in a single game since 18 strikeouts in the 2021 NJCAA National Championship game against Western Oklahoma State.

LSU Eunice would manufacture all the offense it needed in the middle innings.  Collin Husser (Ponchatoula, LA, Ponchatoula HS) led the fourth inning off with a triple and would score on a Evan Joubert (Lake Charles, LA, St. Louis Catholic HS) sacrifice groundout.  Tyler Johnson (Kenner, LA, Brother Martin HS) pushed across another run in the fifth with a two out single to plate Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS).

Alex Dupuy (Natchitoches, LA, Natchitoches Central HS) would score the final run of the game, advancing to home on a high throw on a stolen base attempt at third base, one of four stolen bases by Dupuy on the game.

Husser was the lone Bengal to have a multi-hit game as LSUE totaled eight hits in the matinee contest.
