Bengals Take CACC Series Thanks To LeBlanc, Pitching

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – LSU Eunice Baseball capped off a thrilling weekend series at Central Alabama CC with another extra inning marathon, beating the Trojans 2-1 in ten innings on Sunday.  The Bengals (29-2) have won their last 28 road series or tournament of three or more games, dating back to the 2015 season.

It was an old-fashioned pitcher's duel as the two sides entered the sixth inning scoreless.  LSUE's offense would strike first, capitalizing on a two-out double by Dawson Willis (Ruston, LA, Ruston HS)Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) drove in Willis with a single to give the Bengals a 1-0 lead.  The duo of Willis and LeBlanc accounted for four of the Bengals' nine hits.

On the other side, Alec Beversdorf (Seabrook, TX, Clear Falls HS) continued his mid-season surge, allowing just two hits heading into the eighth inning.  Central Alabama would strike for a lead off single and following a sacrifice and groundout, one of two LSUE errors in the inning allowed a Trojan to score from third base.

The tying run would chase Beversdorf, who received a tough luck no decision after his second double-digit strikeout game of the season.  The freshman notched 11 punchouts while giving up just three hits and not allowing a walk.

Will Mabry (St. Joseph, LA, Tensas Academy) and Parker Morgan (Lake Charles, LA, St. Louis Catholic HS) steadied the ship for LSU Eunice, helping bring the game to extra innings.  Morgan was credited with the win after getting the final two outs in the ninth inning.

Andrew Lee (Lafayette, LA, Ascension Episcopal HS) jumpstarted the LSU Eunice offense with a lead-off single and advanced to third base after an Evan Joubert (Lake Charles, LA, St. Louis Catholic HS) sacrifice bunt and Dawson Willis single.  Tyson LeBlanc again came through in the clutch, bunting in Lee to help the Bengals retake a 2-1 lead.

Collier Barham (Baton Rouge, LA, University Lab HS) snagged his third save of the season, working around two base hits to leave two runners stranded and squash the Trojan threat.
