No. 2 LSUE Takes SE Arkansas Series With Saturday Twinbill

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball wrapped up another series sweep with a pair of wins on Saturday over Southeast Arkansas CC at Bengal Stadium.  The games marked the first overall meetings between the two teams with Southeast Arkansas playing its first season in the NJCAA.

The Bengals rolled 10-0 in the first game before taking a 7-3 decision in the finale to wrap up the weekend.  Ashton Fuselier (Lake Charles, LA, Sam Houston HS) paced the Bengals' offense over the two Saturday wins with three hits on the day, producing five RBIs.

LSUE hits the road on Wednesday for a single game at Centenary College before hosting Delgado CC in a weekend series at Bengal Stadium.

Game 1 vs. Southeast Arkansas CC – W, 10-0 (Six Innings)
LSU Eunice rolled from start to finish in a 10-0 run-rule victory over Southeast Arkansas to start Saturday's doubleheader against the Sharks.  The shutout was the Bengals' sixth of the season.

Alec Beversdorf (Seabrook, TX, Clear Falls HS) went the distance to earn the complete game shutout.  The freshman scattered just one hit and one walk to go along with his six strikeouts in the game.  Beversdorf faced just one batter over the minimum in the six innings of work.

The Bengals struck for two runs in the opening inning, using one of three Shark errors off an Alex Dupuy (Natchitoches, LA, Natchitoches Central HS) grounder to third base.  LSUE doubled its lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning after Dawson Willis (Ruston, LA, Ruston HS) connected on an RBI single followed by a sacrifice bunt by Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS).

Ashton Fuselier added another run in the fifth with an RBI single to plate Collin Husser (Ponchatoula, LA, Ponchatoula HS).  The Bengals triggered the run-rule into effect with a five-run sixth inning.  After Carson Carey (Bossier City, LA, Airline HS) scored a run on a bases loaded hit by pitch, Alex Stevens (Crowley, LA, Notre Dame HS) brought home two more runs to make it 8-0 LSU Eunice.

Andrew Lee (Lafayette, LA, Ascension Episcopal HS) scored Stevens off another Southeast Arkansas error later in the sixth inning before Evan Joubert (Lake Charles, LA, St. Louis Catholic HS) ended the game with a RBI double.

Willis and Tyler Johnson (Kenner, LA, Brother Martin HS) produced multi-hit games as LSU Eunice piled up 10 hits in the win.

Game 2 vs. Southeast Arkansas CC – W, 7-3
The Bengals were able to sweep Southeast Arkansas after a 7-3 win to wrap up the weekend.  The Bengals pushed out to a 7-1 lead with chances to add before holding off the Sharks in the latter stages of the game.

LSUE found itself in an early hole after Southeast Arkansas scored a run in the second inning.  The Bengals went right to work with Ashton Fuselier giving LSUE the lead for good with a two-run double in the bottom half of the frame.

The Bengals pushed out ahead even more with three runs an inning later, scoring off a wild pitch and two-run Collin Husser home run.

Fuselier added to his total with a two-run single in the fifth, the final runs of the game for LSUE.  The Bengals had a chance to add more in the inning, leaving the bases loaded.

The Sharks scored two runs in the eighth to get within striking distance, but Collier Barham (Baton Rouge, LA, University Lab HS) secured the final four outs of the game to squash the threat.

Barham was joined by starter Liam Watt (Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Nelson HS), Parker Webb (Fayetteville, TN, Lincoln County HS), Parker Morgan (Lake Charles, LA, St. Louis Catholic HS) and Samuel Marsh (Monroe, LA, Neville HS) in a 12-strikeout outing by the Bengal pitching staff.

Husser and Fuselier led the way for LSU Eunice as Husser went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored while Fuselier added a pair of hits and a 4 RBI afternoon.
