Beversdorf No-Hitter Highlights Sunday Split

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – LSU Eunice Baseball saw its first no-hitter in more than two years as the Bengals split their Sunday doubleheader at Southeast Arkansas CC.  LSUE (40-3) improved its current streak to 29 road series or tournament of three or more games, dating back to the 2015 season.

Alec Beversdorf (Seabrook, TX, Clear Falls HS) and big home runs were the theme in Game 1 as the Bengals cruised to a 10-0 win in five innings.  Beversdorf tossed a no-hitter, the first no-hitter for the Bengals since Patrick Vienne and Luke McGibboney combined for one during 2022 season against Monroe College.  The Bengals fell in the capper of the series, 5-4.

LSU Eunice continues its road trip with a Monday matchup at Panola College.  The first pitch from Carthage is set for a 3:00PM start.

Game 1 vs. Southeast Arkansas CC – W, 10-0
LSU Eunice early offense and an Alec Beversdorf no-hitter to roll 10-0 over Southeast Arkansas CC to start the Sunday doubleheader.

The Bengals put seven runs on the board in a matter of two swings after Collin Husser (Ponchatoula, LA, Ponchatoula HS) launched a three-run home run in the opening frame, followed by a second inning grand slam by Dawson Willis (Ruston, LA, Ruston HS).  Willis was the lone Bengal to have a multi-hit game, part of LSUE's seven hit output.

LSUE would add a run in the third inning from a Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) RBI single, and two more in the fifth after a Jackson Legg (Shreveport, LA, Calvary Baptist HS) RBI double and Cash Riley, III (Dallas, TX, Jesuit HS) sacrifice fly.

The offensive surge was overshadowed by the no-hitter by Beversdorf.  The freshman ran into some traffic in the first inning after a walk and hit by pitch.  Beversdorf would go on to retire the next 13 batters he faced, including striking out the sides in the third and fourth innings.

Game 2 vs. Southeast Arkansas CC – L, 4-5
The Bengals could not hold on to an early lead as Southeast Arkansas took a 5-4 decision to close out the weekend series.

LSUE scored all four of its runs in the third inning, using three walks and two errors to take a 4-2 lead.  Tanner Vadnais (Prairieville, LA, Dutchtown HS) provided the big hit, driving in three RBIs with a bases loaded single.  Vadnais managed two of the team's five hits.

The Sharks struck back with two runs in the fifth to tie the game and would walk-off with a bases loaded hit by pitch.  The Bengals had chances to score in the latter parts of the game, leaving three runners on base in the final two innings.

Liam Watt (Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Nelson HS) received a no decision after seven innings of work.  Watt gave up four earned runs off nine hits and a walk.  He would strike out five batters.
