SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball continued its hot start to the new year with a 108-51 runaway win at Southern-Shreveport on Wednesday to open LCCAC play. The Bengals (12-9) have won six straight contests, the team's longest streak since the 2020-21 season.
It's the third straight game LSUE has eclipsed the 100-point mark, a first for the program since the 2008-2009 campaign. The 51-point margin of victory is LSUE's highest since a 56-point decision over SUSLA in 2019.
The Bengals got off to a hot start, scoring 30 points in each of the first two quarters.
Mariah Heard (Bastrop, LA, Bastrop HS) led the early charge, scoring 11 of her game high 25 points before intermission. Heard would continue to pour in buckets, netting 14 points in the third quarter.
LSUE would lead 60-28 at the break and continue to add to its tally with a total team approach. The Bengals added to their lead in the third quarter, scoring 35 points in the frame to make it a dominating 95-38 score heading into the fourth.
