LSUE Splits Sunday Doubleheader

CROWLEY, La. – LSU Eunice concluded its four-game weekend with a doubleheader sweep in games against Kellogg CC and Tyler JC at Crowley's Miller Stadium.  The Bengals (13-1) ended the weekend taking three of their four games.

In Sunday's opener, LSU Eunice gave up a big inning early and were never able to overcome, falling to Kellogg CC 10-1.  The Bengals would rebound in a big way, taking an 11-1 run-rule game in six innings over Tyler JC.

The Bengals are back in Crowley next weekend for a four-game series against Southern Arkansas University Tech.

Game 1 vs. Kellogg CC – L, 1-11
LSU Eunice could not rally from a big hole early and fell for the first time during the 2025 season with a 10-1 setback to Kellogg CC.

The Bruins jumped on LSUE in the first inning, striking for four runs off five hits which included a pair of home runs.  Kellogg hit four home runs in the contest.

LSUE would get its lone run in the seventh inning when Cash Riley, III (Dallas, TX, Jesuit HS) launched an opposite field solo home run to left.  The Bengals managed five hits in the game, two coming off the bat of Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS).

Game 2 vs. Tyler JC – W, 11-1 (Six Innings)
The Bengals showed resolve in the weekend finale, regrouping for an impressive 11-1 decision over Tyler JC in a run-rule shortened game of six innings.

Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) got the offense started with a first inning solo home run.  The Bengals struck for three runs in the fourth, sparked by a two-RBI triple from Alex Dupuy (Natchitoches, LA, Natchitoches Central HS).  A bases loaded walk from Tyler Mitchell (Marrero, LA, John Curtis HS) pushed the LSUE lead to 5-0.

Tyler JC would plate its lone run in the sixth inning with a solo home run to left field but LSUE answered in resounding fashion by scoring six runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Cash Riley jump started the big frame by dropping a bunt that allowed two runners to score.  After a first-and-third opportunity helped another run score, Jackson Legg (Shreveport, LA, Calvary Baptist HS) doubled home two more runs.  Mitchell finished off the game with a sharp single to right field that scored Caleb Hastings (Lutcher, LA, Lutcher HS).

Legg was the lone Bengal to grab a multi-hit game as LSUE posted nine hits in the game.

Caden Tarango (Roanoke, IN, Homestead Senior HS) improved to 3-0 after tossing 5.2 innings, giving up one earned run while scattering three hits and four walks.  The sophomore pumped eight punch outs in the contest.  McCray Jacobs (Johnson City, TX, Johnson City HS) recorded the final out.
