Bengals Click On All Cylinders In Friday Sweep of Lansing

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Softball shined in all phases during a Friday doubleheader sweep of Lansing CC on Friday at Lady Bengal Field.  The Bengals (17-5) secured their third straight twinbill sweep on the Cajun Prairie.

LSUE used clutch hits and dominant pitching in a 5-0 opening win over the Stars, followed by a 6-1 decision in the Friday finale.  Jadyn Yesso (Houma, LA, Houma Christian HS) shined in the doubleheader, collected five hits – four that were doubles while accounting for five runs.

The Bengals entertain Lansing CC again on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00PM from Lady Bengal Field.

Game 1 vs. Lansing CC – W, 5-0
A crooked number inning and a trio of stellar LSUE pitchers helped pave the way to a 5-0 opener over Lansing CC in Friday's doubleheader.  The Bengal pitching staff limited the Stars offense to just one hit in the game, allowing just two baserunners on during the contest.

Reagan Rios (Longview, TX, Longview HS) spearheaded the gem in the circle, tossing five innings.  The sophomore ace gave up one hit while issuing a walk.  She would strike out five batters before giving way to Alyssa Boutte (Erath, LA, Erath HS) and Ava Defee (Benton, LA, Benton HS).  Rios would retire the first ten batters she faced in order, working around a fourth inning single and fifth inning walk.

Boutte and Defee combined to sit down the final six batters in order.

Jadyn Yesso sparked the offense in the third inning, smacking a two-run double to right field before scoring on a Kate Rills (Gonzales, LA, East Ascension HS) sacrifice fly.  Gracie Higginbotham (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) pushed the LSUE lead to 4-0 an inning later with a RBI single, followed by a batter later with a solo home run by Payton Prince (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS).

Prince and Yesso each had multi-hit games, combining for four of the team's seven hits.

Game 2 vs. Lansing CC – W, 6-1
Jadyn Yesso enjoyed a three-hit game to help lead LSUE to a 6-1 decision to cap the day's doubleheader against Lansing.  Yesso collected five hits on the day to pace the LSUE offense.

Yesso began the scoring for LSU Eunice with a double up the middle bring home Makinzey Elisar (Prairieville, LA, St. Amant HS) in the first inning.  The Bengals added three more runs in the third, beginning with Payton Prince scoring from third on a wild pitch.  Jade Fischtzuir (Covington, LA, Covington HS) added a RBI single, followed by a Ciara Orgeron (Stonewall, LA, North Desoto HS) RBI triple.

McKenna Howell (Pollock, LA, Grant HS) and Kate Rills added RBI base hits in the fifth to cap the LSUE scoring.  Yesso was the lone Bengal to record a multi-hit game, part of an 11-hit outing for the Bengals.

That was more than enough for Ava Kordish (Bayou Chicot, LA, Pine Prairie HS), picking up her sixth win of the season.  The freshman went five innings in the circle, scattering five hits and one walk while allowing one unearned run.  Cate Nettles (Slidell, LA, Slidell HS) gave up two hits in two innings of work including two punch outs.
