Offensive Showcase Highlights Series Opener vs. North Iowa Area

EUNICE, La. – It was a hitting display you had to see to believe as LSU Eunice produced a jaw-dropping 34-1 win against North Iowa Area CC on Friday at Bengal Stadium.  The 34 runs were the most for LSUE (24-1) in program history since putting up 35 runs in a 2016 victory over Prairie State.

The Bengals used a 14-run frame to help catapult past the Trojans, followed by 11 runs just an inning later.  The 14 runs were the most for LSUE in a single inning since that 2016 Prairie State victory that saw LSUE post 19 runs in an at-bat.

Lost in the historic nature of the team's performance was yet another individual milestone not seen often on the Cajun Prairie. Alex Dupuy (Natchitoches, LA, Natchitoches Central HS) went 4-for-4 on the night – producing the second cycle in LSUE history, both coming in the last week.  The sophomore was a key cog in the offensive explosion, racking up four RBIs and six runs scored.

Dupuy was hit by a pitch in the first inning and scored on an Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) single, part of a three-run first, helping LSUE respond after the Trojans scored their only run in the top of the inning.  His single came an inning later, scoring on a three-run double by Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) to help push the Bengal advantage to 7-1.

That 14 spot came an inning later with Dupuy lifting a three-run home run, one of two three-run homers in the frame – the other coming off the bat of Will Mabry, IV (St. Joseph, LA, Tensas Academy).  The Bengals collected 10 hits in the inning alone.  LSUE would follow that up 11 more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a trio of long balls by Jordan Luna (Washington, LA, Opelousas Catholic HS), Griffin Cooley (Kinder, LA, Kinder HS) and Crawford Courville (Lake Charles, LA, Barbe HS) that helped push the Bengal advantage to 32-1.

LSUE would hit six home runs total, amassing 13 extra base hits.  The Bengals saw 14 different players collect at least a hit.  LeBlanc amassed five RBIs and three runs scored while Luna posted four RBIs and four runs scored to join Dupuy as the key run producers in the scoring surge.

Alec Beversdorf (Seabrook, TX, Clear Falls HS)improved to 6-0 on the season after tossing four innings in the start.  The sophomore ace struck out four batters while working around three hits and one walk.  Haydan Toal (Pineville, LA, Tioga HS), Alex Morrison (Pineville, LA, Tioga HS) and Turner McLelland (Minden, LA, Glenbrook School) each saw time on the mound.

The series with North Iowa Area CC continues on Saturday with a 2:00PM first pitch from Bengal Stadium.
