EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice's
Kamiera McDonald (Baton Rouge, LA, Scotlandville HS) was tabbed to the 2024-2025 NJCAA Women's Basketball All-Region 23 team, the organization recently announced. McDonald is part of nine-player team and the only Louisiana selection.
McDonald is the first All-Region 23 selection since Alona Washington during the 2020-2021 season.
"Kamiera was the epitome of this year's team – she overcame adversity through the season and really shined when the lights were brightest," LSU Eunice Women's Basketball head coach Rob Beckmann said. "We are so proud of her accomplishments and know the best is still yet to come from her."
This continues an impressive postseason award haul for the freshman. McDonald was recently named the Louisiana Community Colleges Athletic Conference (LCCAC) player of the year in addition to a first-team and all-defensive team member.
McDonald was the lynchpin for the LCCAC champs, averaging 15.3 points per game for the season and 16.8 during LCCAC play – producing seven games of 20-plus points. She recorded a season-high 28 points in LSUE's first round win of the Region 23 Tournament, pouring in 28 points against Meridian. The freshman was also tops on the team with 3.54 assists and 3.8 steals per game.
LSU Eunice enjoyed one of its greatest turnaround seasons in program history, overcoming last year's 6-win season to post a 20-11 record, the sixth 20-plus win season in LSUE history. The Bengals would go 8-1 in LCCAC which included a 13-game win streak.
