No. 1 LSUE Secures Mid-Week Sweep of Centenary

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball grinded out a pair of wins over Centenary College JV on Tuesday at Bengal Stadium.  The two games kick off a regular season-ending nine-game homestand for the Bengals (43-2).
 
LSU Eunice rallied from a late deficit to take a 3-2 opener in eight innings before securing the sweep with a 6-1 victory.  The Bengals used ten different pitchers in the two games, logging 17 strikeouts in the 15 innings of play.
 
LSUE returns home this weekend for a three-game LCCAC series with Nunez CC.  The Bengals and Pelicans kick things off with a 3:00PM doubleheader on Friday, April 18 followed by a single game on Saturday, April 19 at 1:00PM.
 
Game 1 vs. Centenary College- W, 3-2 (Eight Innings)
Key hits late helped LSU Eunice take a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Centenary College in eight innings.  It was LSUE's third walk-off victory of the season.
 
LSU Eunice found itself in a 2-1 hole in its final at bat before Tyson LeBlanc (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) tied the game with a RBI triple and force extra innings.  After Will Mabry, IV (St. Joseph, LA, Tensas Academy) reached based on a one-out error and reached third on another Gents error, Aarren Marshall (Allen, TX, Lovejoy HS) executed a bunt to bring home the winning run in the eighth.
 
Marshall's hit was just one of three for the Bengals in the contest.  LSUE tied the game in the second inning on a Mason Bordelon (Marksville, LA, Avoyelles Charter HS) RBI single before the Gents regained the lead with a run in the fourth inning.
 
Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) picked up the win coming on in relief for the final two outs of the eighth inning.  Caden Tarango (Roanoke, IN, Homestead Senior HS) received the no decision despite logging ten stirkeouts in 6.1 innings of work.  McCray Jacobs (Johnson City, TX, Johnson City HS) bridged the Bengals to extra innings with an inning of work.
 
Game 2 vs. Centenary College – W, 6-1
A pair of three-run innings keyed LSU Eunice to a 6-1 win over Centenary in the back half of the day's doubleheader. 
 
LSUE struck early and often, plating three runs in the opening inning thanks to a RBI single by Jackson Legg (Shreveport, LA, Calvary Baptist HS) and a two-run error on a groundball from Griffin Cooley (Kinder, LA, Kinder HS).  After Centenary scored its lone run of the game in the second, LSUE plated three more runs after executing a first-and-third double steal and two-run double by Tyson LeBlanc.
 
Legg was joined by Crawford Courville (Lake Charles, LA, Barbe HS) with multi-hit games, part of LSUE's seven hit output.
 
The Bengals would empty the bullen in the victory, using seven different pitchers.  Hudson Spangler (Zachary, LA, Zachary HS) picked up the win after tossing two innings in the start.  Spangler gave up one earned run while working around one hit.
