EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball used a five-run fifth inning to take control in its Sunday rubber match against Murray State and never looked back, scoring a 7-3 win over the Aggies at Bengal Stadium. The Bengals (2-1) have won 13 straight series of three or more games, dating back to the 2024 season.
LSUE found itself in an early hole after Murray State capitalized on some fielding miscues in the third inning. Two misplayed balls in the outfield allowed the Aggies to strike for three two-out runs. From that point, just four Murray State baserunners would reach.
Hunter Gambel (Hammond, LA, St. Thomas Aquinas HS) would shut down the Aggies' attack, tossing four innings of shutout relief. Gambel grabbed the win after sitting down six batters, while giving up two hits and a walk.
Xavier Woods (Cleveland, TX, Cleveland HS) received the no decision, striking out four batters. Jacob Froehlich and Aidan Mouton combined to pitch the ninth inning.
The Bengals finally broke through on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. LSUE took advantage of four straight free passes to begin in the inning, followed by a game tying two run single by
Mason Bordelon (Marksville, LA, Avoyelles Charter HS). LSUE added two more in the inning thanks to a bases loaded hit by pitch and
Aarren Marshall (Allen, TX, Lovejoy HS) driving in an RBI.
Milan Obradovich (Tuscaloosa, AL, Northridge HS) kept the offense going in the seventh, doubling home
Andrew Clapinski (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS).
Jordan Luna (Washington, LA, Opelousas Catholic HS) would produce his second hit by pitch RBI of the day later in the frame.
Clapinski led the LSUE attack with a three-hit game while Obradovich accounted for four of the team's runs.
