Methodical Bengals Take Run-Rule Opener Over National Park

EUNICE, La. – It was prototypical win for LSU Eunice in its series opener against National Park College on Friday, using strong pitching, timely hitting, and working the basepaths during a 12-1 mercy rule victory at Bengal Stadium.  It was LSUE's (3-1) first run-rule of the early campaign.

It wasn't the offense that stole the show early as Hudson Spangler (Zachary, LA, Zachary HS) struck out the first six batters he faced and retired 15 consecutive batters.  Spangler totaled eight punchouts on the evening, giving up just a single run on one hit in the sixth inning before giving way to Beau Revord (Jefferson City, TN, Jefferson County HS).

Revord tossed two perfect relief innings, striking out three batters.

The Bengal bats got all the offense they needed in the second inning, scoring four runs off four hits and two errors.  Aarren Marshall (Allen, TX, Lovejoy HS) and Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) produced back-to-back RBI singles, followed by a first-and-third stolen base situation and brought home Marshall.

Andrew Clapinski (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS) connected one of his team-high three hits to bring home Mouton to conclude the frame.

Tyler Mitchell (Marrero, LA, John Curtis HS) provided fireworks two innings later, driving an opposite field solo home run to right.  Milan Obradovich (Tuscaloosa, AL, Northridge HS) joined in on the scoring with a sacrifice fly RBI.  LSUE's lead grew to 9-0 in the fifth thanks to a wild pitch and a Clapinski two-run single up the middle.

LSUE closed out the scoring in the sixth with a Cooper Scott (Pineville, LA, Holy Savior Menard HS) sacrifice line out and Jaxon Landreneau (Moss Bluff, LA, Sam Houston HS) doubling home a run and then scoring one of four Nighthawk errors in the game.

The Bengals continue their series with National Park on Saturday with a 2:00PM first pitch.
