Middle Innings Help LSUE Take Saturday Win vs. Wharton

EUNICE, La. – An eight-run surge in the middle innings helped LSU Eunice push past Wharton County 10-3 on Saturday at Bengal Stadium.  LSUE (12-1) has scored double digit runs in its last 10 games.

The Bengals found themselves in a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning when Milan Obradovich (Tuscaloosa, AL, Northridge HS) launched a solo home run to left field that would jump start the LSUE attack.  Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) added one of his three RBIs to give the Bengals a 4-2 edge.

LSUE would put the game away for good an inning later, adding five runs in the fifth inning.  Dylan Bell (Moss Bluff, LA, Sam Houston HS) got the rally started with a double driven deep to right center, scoring two runs.  After a wild pitch scored a run, Mouton plated two more with a single through the left side of the infield to make it a 9-2 LSUE lead.  Tyler Mitchell (Marrero, LA, John Curtis HS) would score the final run of the game, crossing home off a passed ball strike three during Bell's next at bat.

Mitchell and Aarren Marshall (Allen, TX, Lovejoy HS) would start the scoring in the second inning for the Bengals, both connecting on RBI singles.

Bell and Mouton each had three RBI's to lead LSUE while Mouton produced three hits to bring his series total to seven hits against Wharton County.  He was joined by Andrew Clapinski (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS), Marshall, and Mitchell with multi-hit games.

Lane Fenske (New Iberia, LA, Catholic-New Iberia HS) picked up his third win of the season after tossing six innings.  He gave up two unearned runs off five hits and three walks while striking out three batters.  Beau Revord (Jefferson City, TN, Jefferson County HS) worked the final three innings of the game.

LSUE and Wharton County close out their series on Sunday with a 1:00pm first pitch from Bengal Stadium.
